Universities and colleges
Choosing between institutions
Choosing
How important are rankings?
Less than students think. Rankings measure research and reputation more than teaching. Look at the course, the accreditation, graduate outcomes, placement options and the city. A top-10 course at a top-60 university beats a weak course at a top-20 one.
What is the difference between a university and a college?
In the UK, a college usually teaches below-degree or pathway programmes. In Canada, public colleges award applied diplomas and degrees with strong job links. In the US, college and university are often used interchangeably.
What is an international branch campus?
A campus of a British, Australian or American university in another country (Dubai, Malaysia, Mauritius) that awards the home university's degree, usually at a lower fee. Check the local licence.
How do I know a university is genuine?
It must be on the official register: the Office for Students in England, Designated Learning Institutions in Canada, CRICOS in Australia, the Department of Education in the US. We only work with registered institutions.
