Which exams you need to study in the UAE

English language tests

Most universities in the UAE accept IELTS, PTE Academic and TOEFL, with typical requirements of IELTS 6.0 for undergraduate and 6.5 for postgraduate study (7.0 for health, law and teaching). Test waivers are less common; budget for a test.

Admission tests

Most programmes admit on grades and English alone. MBAs at top schools may ask for GMAT or GRE, and medicine has its own entrance exams.

Test waivers

We check each course's exact policy before you book a test. Waivers depend on your country of schooling, the language of your previous degree and the university's own rules.

Figures are indicative for the 2026/27 cycle, change with exchange rates and policy, and should be confirmed with the university or the relevant government before you decide.
